Who Are You Showing Up to Be Today? (Shin Kicking Mondays)

July 24, 2014 By Berni

This episode is brought to you by our amazing partner for almost a year now, Selz.com, who has backed us up making selling online easy, sexy and fun even if you don’t have a web site yet!

Today on Shin Kicking Mondays we’re going to talk about a long overdue topic. Last week we talked about showing up to do good and hard work no matter how difficult the journey can be.

This week we cover something more important: Who are you showing up to be?

If you know you have a story or an important message to tell…you don’t quite know how to tell it…or you’re deathly afraid to share it…this episode was hand-crafted by me just for you.

Shin Kicking Mondays – FREE Weekly Coaching – Pilot Episode

April 23, 2014 By Berni

In this pilot episode of Shin Kicking Mondays, I talk about how being molested as a 5-year-old led me into cycles of depression and codependent relationships with men. And how my very first session with a psychotherapist at age 30 led me down the path towards pursuing my dream job and, ultimately, sparking the Brave Bear Revolution for entrepreneurs who want help kicking fear to the curb, shutting up and making shit happen.

Shin Kicking Mondays couldn’t be possible without the support of our amazing sponsor Selz.com–a company that makes selling simple and cares about helping you put good shit out into the world.

HOW COACHING SAVED MY LIFE

Back in 2008, I received my professional coaching training one month before I quit my fancy corporate sales job and started a life coaching practice.

Coaching helped me navigate the darkest of times when I was feeling depressed, hopeless and helpless, and nearly gave up the will to live. Coaching saved my life with mindset strategies and emotional tools to help me rise above paralyzing experiences like being in an abusive relationship, hospitalized and filing for bankruptcy.

Coaching helped me remove the barriers holding me back from living on my own terms. Since then, everything has changed for me. Especially within the past 12 months.

I had no idea whether I could be brave enough to talk about my fears every week. More than 100 episodes later, The Shut Up Show is alive and growing.

I had no idea whether I could afford to bring you a weekly web show and podcast every week. Six months later, Selz.com believed in us and backed this show.

I had no idea whether I could ever author the book I’ve been meaning to write since 2011. Three years later, the book chose me to write the entire first draft on a single Saturday afternoon in January 2014.

So I challenge you to answer this question: What is stopping you today?

You Gotta Ship It to Sell It – Episode 83

January 17, 2014 By Berni

Today’s first backstage episode of the year is brought to you by our amazing sponsor, Selz. Thanks to Selz, we are able to join you up to three times a week doing what we all love… helping you shut up and make shit happen.

Inside today’s episode, Phil and I talk about how we have shipped things half-assed or stalled on shipping at all. We look inside why we do this as people who produce “things” and how we can shift our mindset from thinking we have to be perfect to believing we are good enough to put it out into the world at all.

Share Some Shut Up Love –> Done is better than perfect. – @PhilGerb on @_TheShutUpShow #shutupshow (click to tweet)

Shut Up Tips:

Just shipped my first newsletter of the year. The first one in four months. I made a lot of excuses because I wanted it to be perfect. I made a lot of mistakes but we had a 40% open rate and 150 people responded. – Phil

Waiting versus being patient.. I don’t think they’re the same thing. I started writing a book in 2011 and when I was done I didn’t feel it was good enough. So I didn’t publish it. Although I was patient for the book and me to be ready for each other this year, I didn’t wait to write it. I ve been writing every day since 2011 and now the book is written. – Berni

Unless it’s a show stopper, I need to ship. – Phil

The goal is to get feedback. You’re gonna ship anyway but you can always make it better. – Phil

Another reason we don’t ship is because we’re hoarding it for ourselves when instead we should be having people iterate with us. – Berni

The goal is early stage feedback, not after it’s done. – Phil

I think I’m my market so I research myself and then I get upset because I don’t get good feedback. – Phil

Berni & Phil Recommend:

Thank you Selz.com for the amazing work you do… you make it seriously so simple to work with you and get selling in seconds.

Here’s my latest post on how (thanks to Selz) I was able sell a year-end deal even though my web site was down for 10 days: Who Needs a Web Site to Sell, Really?

How can The SHUT UP Show help you?

Would you be a darling and fill out this 1-minute survey?
